Lynn Gurnett – From My Personal View
Lynn Gurnett was born and bred in Bishop’s Stortford and studied Art and Design at Harlow College, where she gained a BTEC in Art. She doesn’t trace her love of art to one single moment — it’s simply always been part of her life, something she couldn’t imagine living without.
Her work is driven by a love of colour and shape, particularly circles. This collection brings those elements together while also exploring a newer fascination with darker, moodier tones. Lynn draws inspiration from artists such as Pollock, Warhol, Matisse, Kandinsky, and Léger, blending influence with intuition to create work that feels both playful and thoughtful.
Outside of art, Lynn enjoys table tennis, watching live sport, and visiting art galleries around the world. Alongside her creative practice, she is also a self-employed carer and has run her own business for 13 years, supporting elderly people in their own homes — a role that reflects her generosity, dedication, and care for others.
From my personal view, Lynn always feels full of energy — even if she doesn’t seek attention for it. She is open, curious, and genuinely happy to learn, always welcoming ideas and suggestions. I’ve noticed that Lynn often disappears quietly, preferring to stay out of the spotlight, and she is more than happy for me to handle her sales and take care of her artwork.
What stands out most is the steady, reassuring support I always feel from her. Lynn may work quietly, but her presence, trust, and encouragement mean a great deal — making her a valued and deeply appreciated part of our community.
