Théa Murray- from my personal view comes across as a truly kind and gentle soul. There is a certain delicacy in her presence, yet at the same time, she carries a quiet strength that feels incredibly powerful. Despite the challenges she faces, she continues to move forward and create, which I find deeply inspiring. I am really looking forward to getting to know her more and seeing her journey unfold within our ArtVibe community.
Théa is a contemporary artist working primarily in pen and ink and watercolour. She creates highly detailed animal portraits alongside mythology-inspired human paintings, balancing close observation with symbolism. Her work explores themes of vulnerability, resilience, and the quiet defiance of existing on one’s own terms.
Art has long been a grounding force in Théa’s life and has also become a way of reclaiming autonomy. Living with multiple disabilities and chronic health conditions has shaped her experience of the world, but her art remains deeply personal—a space she continually returns to and shares with others.
Her pen and ink work is characterised by expressive linework and splattered textures, a style that developed as a response to intermittent tremors. Rather than rejecting imperfections, Théa embraces them, allowing movement and honesty to become an integral part of her artistic language.
In contrast, her watercolour paintings draw inspiration from mythology, religion, and classical sculpture. Works such as Temptation, inspired by the story of Eve, and Delphine, influenced by Hellenistic sculpture, reflect her interest in how the human body—particularly the feminine form—has been represented and idealised throughout history.
Supported by her assistance dog, Yoda, Théa regularly takes part in markets and events, sharing her work in spaces that are not always designed with disabled artists in mind. Alongside full-time work, she continues to develop her practice, with the long-term goal of making art her primary focus.-ter
m aim of making it her primary focus.
